SOUTHINGTON, CT - Associates at Yarde Metals, Southington based metals distributor, are collecting food items to be delivered Monday, November 16th to the Human Resource Agency of New Britain, Inc./Headstart Program for the benefit of needy families in surrounding areas. Yarde Metals has become well known locally for providing much needed help to many area organizations, churches and hospitals. The Thanksgiving Food Drive, Christmas Toy Drive and NAPCAR Bed Race for Charity are just a few of Yarde's annual events.
The Human Resource Agency of New Britain, Inc./Headstart Program is in the process of building an addition to its facility that will provide increased accommodation to the growing number of families in need. Support is evident throughout the New Britain community. Barilla Printers has offered its warehouse for storage of donated food, and a forklift to assist with deliveries. Other community volunteers will package and distribute food items to the families. Yarde Metals selected this charity for its Thanksgiving Food Drive because the program reaches over 400 families, 60% of whom are under the national guidelines for poverty.
